Fall 2013 Trends

Labor Day is now upon us which means the end of summer is near (sigh!). We can no longer put off talking about fall fashion, we’re already thinking about how to layer up our summer clothes and stores are stocked up to their necks in fall wear.

So, what are you going to wear? What trends should you look out for?
Plaid? That’s so last year (except if you live in A&F).

The top trends to watch out for this fall are —

1) Color:

Color is not going anywhere any time soon. The more the merrier — and who wants to be drab and dull all through the bleak winter months anyway. I say, bring it on!

Vero Moda hi low dress, $60 / Alice + Olivia sleeveless shirt / Wallis blue jacket / Love 21 skinny jeans / Madewell shorts / Floral skater skirt

2) Leather:

Leather is creeping into clothing in bits and pieces adding polish. It’s no longer just about leather leggings. There are strips, pieces and sleeves in tops and dresses that make them edgier.

Lacy dress / Leather sleeve top / Bardot peplum top, $36 / Topshop jumpsuit / Zara skirt

3) Camo:

Everyone has camo pieces for this fall (JCrew, Asos, Forever21 to name a few). This is not the Ducky Dynasty variety, it’s styled from the ubiquitous utility jacket to stilettos, dresses and bags.

Tripp lace bustier / Camouflage jacket, $57 / J.Crew vest / Madewell super skinny jeans / Forever 21 hi lo chiffon skirt / Steve Madden sneaker wedge shoes / River Island strap high heel sandals, $93 / J.Crew woolen scarve / 2b military style cap / Full Tilt camo sunglasses

Its all yellow!

There’s something about summer that makes you want to jump into yellow. If you want to get anything yellow this year, skip the yellow jeans and make it these 3 things —

Ask me: Where can I get a White Blazer?

A friend asked me recently where she can get a white blazer. She really wants one this summer seeing the versatility of this piece.

So I went hunting and gathered these lovely pieces — all under $50.

Flowery headwraps

I think this trend kicked off at Coachella and the summer vibe just kept it going. Everyone from Kate Middleton to Vanessa Hudgens has been sporting one.

If these are to bold for you, try a head wrap with buds rather than the large sized flowers. There are tons of options at Asos, UO, Nordstrom and at Forever21 (some under $10!).

Or, you could even go with a flower hair accessory like a hair clip or alice band to amp up your style as you go about attending one wedding after another this summer.

Chambray and White – 5 Ways!

There are so many ways you can wear this summer’s cool and relaxed trend – Chambray and White. Apart from the basic chambray shirt over white denims, here are 5 ways I would wear it —

1) Printed chambray shirt with a white skater skirt.

How would you pair this combination?

Bring Vintage Back

They were hot back then and they’re back with a zing: high-waisted shorts. They can give you an elongated silhouette and take your shorts from frumpy to stylish.

Here is how I would style mine (vintage umbrella not included!)

high waisted shorts

River Island , $31 / TIBI jean shorts / Wallis wedge sandals / ASOS crossbody handbag / JOANNA DAHDAH two finger ring / Carolina Bucci rose gold earrings, $375

Finds under $50 – Jumpsuits

Yes I’d wear a dress, skirt, pants or shorts any time this summer, but there are times when I’m really looking for that something different and I see myself reaching out for a jumpsuit.

For once, chuck your dress, shorts and skirts aside and give the jumpsuit a chance, you won’t regret it!

There are so many nice ones out there right now, see my picks below — all under $50.
